Our 11 favourite travel games to borrow

9 colorful games, some in front of others, depicting some of the suggesting travel favourites like Uno, Dutch Blitz, Set, Farkle, Taco versus Burrito, and Double Shutter.We love taking games along with us when we travel!

What better way to pass the time in car on a road trip or on the picnic table when camping than with a game the whole family can play.

But if you’re tired of the same games, why not borrow one (or two) from the library this summer.

In no particular order, here are our favourite easy-to-transport games.


Spot it! is a speed and observation game for the whole family. The aim of the game?  There is always one, and only one, matching symbol between any two cards. Be the first to find and name it to win the card.  Learn to play in less than 30 seconds! Ages 6+. Also available is Spot It! Waterproof in our Water Ecology Backpack.

 

Cover Your Assets is an addictive game of give and take. Loved by all ages!  Stack up your assets by pairing sets of cards but watch out! Other players can challenge and steal the top set on your stack. Perfect for both kids and adults, this game will have everyone playing and laughing around the campfire or in the car for hours! Ages 7+

 

Upgrade your deck of cards to Basecamp Kids with 54 interesting discussion questions sure to provide endless entertainment whether kids are at camp or in the car. These conversation cards make all people chat, laugh, and enjoy sitting together! Also available are Original Edition and Second Edition. Ages 6+

 

Double Shutter requires strategic choices and a good dose of luck! Roll the dice and knock down a combination of numbered tiles that equals the rolled number. Play until there are no tiles left to equal the dice. It’s almost impossible to lose pieces as the tiles are attached to the metal tin. Great for teaching kids addition! Ages 8+

 

Set: The Family Game of Visual Perception Race to find a SET of three cards where each feature is either all the same or all different on each card. With no turns and no luck, SET is challenging, fast and fun! It makes a perfect after dinner game that can be played in only 20 minutes. SET can be played alone or with as many players as you can fit around the table! Ages 6+

Farkle: the classic dice-rolling, risk-taking game. Take a risk, and keep rolling to build your score. Or play it safe so you don’t lose your points in a Farkle. It’s a fight to the finish in this fabulously fun game of strategy and luck! Ages 8+

 

UNO is the classic card game that’s easy to pick up! Players take turns matching a card in their hand with the current card shown on top of the deck either by color or number. Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza is as unique as its name. It’s a power packed quick and simple game where each player places a card from their hand face up in a community pile while saying taco/cat/goat/cheese/pizza in player sequence – when the card matches the mantra everyone slaps their hand on the deck, the last one picks up the cards!
