Thank You!

A big thank you to the Carman Area Foundation for funding our new reading alcove in the Children’s Library. The alcove features a custom made cabinet bench with a spacious storage unit for children’s program items. We’ve added a custom made cushion, pillows, and beautiful watercolor mural. The space is a cozy and inviting place for one person or a small group. Since its installation, many children have enjoyed the alcove, reading on their own or with family, making it a beloved spot in the library.

The Carman Area Foundation has also funded a portable projector, an adjustable stand, and a large portable screen. Check out our upcoming Creative Connection events that will make use of the projector use.

Creative Connection

Dr. Maureen Matthews and Elaine & Joshua Owen

Rescheduled to Tuesday February 4 @ 6:30pm

In 1995, Dr. Maureen Matthews made a promise to the respected Anishinaabe elder Charlie George Owen, that she would photograph the objects in the Pauingassi collection and make a book so that the children in the community would know about the lives and accomplishments of their ancestors. Wanting to help with the promise to Elaine Owen’s grandfather in law, Elaine and Joshua (Graysville residents) supported and assisted Dr. Matthews who has worked for nearly 30 years on this project. Now the book has finally been published. Join us in the library to hear the remarkable story behind this stunning large-format coffee table book that will be available for purchase. More information on this event, and upcoming Creative Connection events can be found on the Creative Connection page.
