Book Clubs

Book clubs offer an excellent opportunity to grow as a reader. Each reader contributes unique perspectives and life experiences to the interpretation of a book, which fosters lively debates and enjoyable discussions.

The Boyne Regional Library does not have a book club so consider starting your own!

Book Club Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find and reserve a book for my book club?

You may search the library for current books in our circulation. We typically carry one copy of a book. If the book you are looking for is not in our circulation, or you require more than one copy, you may request copies through InterLibrary Loans or by asking a clerk. There is a small fee to borrow a book through InterLibrary Loan to cover the cost of the postage. Please note that typically, new books can be difficult to get through inter library loans. In that instance, we recommend you take a look at the Book Club Kits available through Inter Library Loans.

How do I join a Book Club?

We do not have a current library led book club. There are several community-led book clubs. For more information, please ask at the front desk or consider starting your own.

I am already a member of a Book Club and would like to borrow books for our next meeting! How can I do that?

That’s wonderful! We ask that the host of the book club sends us an email at carmanlibrary@outlook.com or call the library. Please include the following information:

Book Club Name:
Name of Book:
# of copies requested:
Date of book club meeting to disperse books: (we will do our best to get the books here in time for your meeting)

We will let the requester know when the books are ready for pickup. The requester will be responsible for letting their book club members know when the books are available. Books requested through InterLibrary Loans have a fee at pickup.

What is a book club kit and how can I order one?

A Book Club Kit is a set of books (typically 3 or more) that is available to borrow through InterLibrary Loans. Book Club Kits are a great way to receive newer books in a large quantity.
There are two libraries that offer Book Club Kits through InterLibrary Loans:

  1. Bibliothèque Allard Regional Library Book Club Kit catalogue. More than 20 kits to choose from
  2. Minnedosa Regional Library Kit Catalogue. Each kit has 3 copies of the book.

Once you have picked the kit you would like to order, call or send us an email with the kit name, your book club name, contact person’s info and date of book club meeting to complete the request. The fee for kits is $2.00/book. Please note that some book club kits have 10 books total.
