We offer a Summer Reading Program to the children of our community to encourage them to read for pleasure during the summer and to retain their reading skills when they are not in school.
Kids entering kindergarten to grade 12 in the coming school year are eligible to enter the Summer Reading Program. Stop by the library between Tuesday July 2 to Saturday August 24 to register.
Our program has shown continuous growth over the years. We had over 500 children participating in the most recent 2023 Summer Reading Program. We have also offered free summer memberships to children in surrounding areas that do not have a library in their community.
The goals of our Summer Reading Program are:
To help school aged children maintain their reading skills while on summer holidays.
To encourage and motivate children and families to read for pleasure.
To introduce children and their families to the resources of the public library.
To welcome new residents and new customers to the library.
To establish the library as a vital part of community life.
